The National MS Society is actively recruiting volunteers for the new Online Peer Connections Program team.
What is the Online Peer Connections Program?
The Online Peer Connections Program is the newest way that people living with MS can connect with their peers through the National MS Society. The program is modeled after traditional peer support programs, where the conversations are confidential, one-on-one, and are centered on a mutually agreed upon goal.
How the Program Will Work
Participants seeking a peer can search through online profiles of trained peer support volunteers via a dedicated page on the Society's website. Participants will be able to connect with peers from across the country as well as within their own geographic area. Profiles will be searchable by predetermined demographic information. Once the participant identifies a peer of interest, the participant completes the online program application and the matching process begins. Once the match is confirmed, communication between the participant and the peer is managed by phone, by email or both.
Training and Support for Volunteers
All Online Peer Support Volunteers will have National MS Society email address and will be trained and supervised by a staff person on the Programs & Services Team in Denver.
